Sometimes, something can happen that makes you feel uncomfortable. Whether this occurs during a dance class, at an activity organized by the association, in day-to-day contact with other members, it is important to know where you can turn for support.

The board or dance teacher

Often, the first point of contact can be a dance teacher or the board. You can do this at any point, no matter how much time has passed since the incident, in person or by email at bestuur@sdvamsterdance.nl. They can offer support. Teachers and board members will handle what you tell them confidentially. They can try to resolve the situation as much as possible at the moment itself, or refer you to further appropriate steps.

Confidential Contact Person (VCP)

The association has a committee of confidential contact persons. These are members of the association, so they know more what AmsterDance is like and are meant to be approachable. They are the first point of contact if you have experienced an unpleasant situation or would like to talk about something. The confidential contact person will support you and offer a listening ear, and suggest further possible steps to take. Do not hesitate to contact them, if you feel the need! The VCPs handle conversations with you confidentially.

Confidential advisors

You can also contact an external confidential advisor. These are trained professionals outside AmsterDance who can support you in difficult situations. Confidential advisors have a duty of confidentiality, which means they do not share any information you give them with others, unless there is a legal obligation to do so.

You can contact several confidential advisors. You can approach any of these confidential advisor, even if they mainly focus on other types of incidents. Below is an overview.

As someone dancing with AmsterDance, you can contact the confidential advisor of the University Sports Centre (USC).

Confidential advisor UvA / VU / AUAS

As a student, you can contact the confidential advisor of your own university or educational institution. Here you can find the contact information for the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS, HvA).
